Jæja, alles
hat ein Ende nur die Wurst hat zwei ;-)
Now the time is there, that i have to say goodbye to Iceland (at
least for now ;-))... On friday the 15th I’m gonna fly back to
Germany :-/
Last night i had a little goodbye-party with some of the people
i shared my time with here in Iceland. I had such a great time
here, even though, i did not plan to stay that long... When i
came to Iceland on 27th of July last year, i thought to stay max. 3
months. But then i didn't get a place to study, i liked my work
here and there was nothing which was tearing me back to Germany -
so i just stayed - and i stayed and i stayed a little longer :-)
And now a year has passed…
When i come home next weekend, I’ll have a busy schedule. On
saturday i will probably visit the animal hospital where i used to
work and go partying with friends in the evening :-) On sunday it's
my mum's birthday, and i will see my older sister and my grandma
again :-) And on Monday i will already be in Munich to go to the
Oktoberfest with a very good friend of mine... But only for 2 or 3
days, then i will go back home to meet more friends and organize
some things. And then hopefully Lovísa will come for a visit so we
can go partying on the Oktoberfest and drink beer until we die
:-) (ok, maybe just until we lay under the table ;-)) I count
on you Lovísa :-D
So far... kveðjur, Carmen

Jæja And the first weekend of August there was a
huge festival on Vestmannaeyjar. This festival is hold since many
many years and it's thought to be very special...

I was thinking about going there last year, but didn't do it, so
i decided to go this year i flew there on wednesday with Diana
and Stephen. We spent the first day shopping and walking arround...
In the evening we put up our 5-stars-tent in the garden of a
guesthouse. We thought it would be quite comfortable, to have a
shower and a kitchen, that's why we didn't stay at the camping side
of the festival.
The program of the following days:
Thursday: buying clothes and rain coats/
Diana:"Wow, you look like Julia Roberts!"/ "pick-up-dance" in the
evening
Friday morning: i got to know, how it feels
like to be cinderella - or: who put the shoe in the
drawer??
Friday evening: Miss Pocahontas got a bit too
drunk / "Rennibraut er ekki buin!" /or: fear in the garden
house...
Saturday: Who the fuck is Eva??? / or: why
was Jonsi of "i svörtum fötum" so interested in Halli???
Sunday: the final countdown
Monday: time to say goodbye /waiting at
the airport
We had such a great time! Volume 2 next year

Two days after i came home from the Laugavegur-trip we started a
little riding-tour with 13 of our horses.
The first day went from Lágafell to Fljótshlið, then from
Fljótshlið to Gunnarsholt, the third day from Gunnarsholt to
Leirubakki, the fourth day from Leirubakki to Gunnarsholt, then
from Gunnarsholt to Hvolsvöllur and finally on the sixth day from
Hvolsvöllur back home. It was soooo nice especially the last three
days, when the weather was so fine.
It was a great experience and it was very interesting to see,
how the horses changed during the trip. It seemed to be that
they liked it, too. I think the most remarking thing on the
trip was, when we rode through a wide river with two islands on.
One smaller one and one with a little forest on. We set the
handhorses free and one group rode in front of them, and the other
one behind them. But the free horses were not very found of
crossing that river, so they just turned and went on the island
with the trees on... But we managed to get them off the island
and go to the other side of the river. But it was a quite funny
situation... to loose the handhorses on an island in a river

Jæja, there was so much going the last weeks and just no time to
sit down and write...
So you'll get a "short-version" of what i've been doing since
the beginning of july...
After i came home from Landsmót i spent two days at home and
left Lágafell again to go to the highland. I went with Stephen
by bus to Landmannalaugar, where we chilled a little in the natural
hot pot and went for a walk to Ljotipollur. We spent the night
there in a too small tent, in a too thin sleeping bag, on very
stony ground. So i can´t say, that i was very fresh, when we
started off next morning, to walk to Hrafntinnusker...
But it was so nice weather and the landscape just amazing!!! We
arrived in Hrafntinnusker arround lunchtime and decided to walk
further the same day. So we walked over Álftarvatn to Hvanngil and
spent the night there in the old horse-stable. It was quite
comfortable, to sleep on a maitress and to have some space to
strech out after a long walk...
The next day we started off arround lunchtime in veeeery
beautiful weather, to walk to Emstrur and visit Kerstin (a
ex-worker of Lágafell) at the hut Botnar... It was quite hot in the
black lava-desert, we had to walk through. And when we arrived at
Botnar, i had the shape of my sunglasses "burned" on my face
It was soooo nice, at Botnar and i would
have liked to stay the night... but we decided to walk further to
Þorsmörk the same day.
Before we came into Þorsmörk, we had to cross a glacial-river...
It was maybe a little more then knee-deep an FUCKING-cold !!! I
thought my feet wold fall off right away, when i walked barefoot
through the river... But as reward, there came a beautiful little
forest with the smell of herbs in the air on the other side
We spent the night in Þorsmörk at the hut in
Langidalur.
The next morning Stephen left to walk over Fimmvörðurháls to
Skogar, but i was way too tired, so i had a relaxing day in
Þorsmörk

Wow, time passes quickly. I feel like just arrived hear,
and I´m starting my flight training. Instead I´m almost finished.
Finished my PPL 2 months ago and my multi this week, and today, I´m
starting my multi-instrument training. I´m so looking forward

Tomorrow is my birthday (jeh…) and I’ll start the day by
flying in the multi-engine at 8 am (no sleep-in for me ) then
I’m thinking of going to the beach and surf with the girls. Then in
the evening we are going to have a party. I just wished my
friends in Iceland where here too. It would be the best gift I
could ever have.
I´ll write more after the weekend, maybe I´ll have
something fun to write about
Over&out, Lovisa
Ps. I can’t make it home this summer like I planed I
have too much to do and I really want to make it to the October
fest…

Hey, this was a great week! It was soo beautiful summer weather
(i sunburned my ears once again ), i've been riding a lot,
we cut the first grass and it ended with a really
great "i svörtum fötum" ball
On Monday Malin (a swedish girl working on Holtsmóli) came for a
vistit, to take some pictures of Lágafell. We went over the
place on horse, and it was quite nice Malin, i hope your friend
is gonna enjoy all the nice pictures you took
On Tuesday we had kind of a LITTLE disagreement with one of our
horses and he managed to ruin the round-pen So i spent a
couple of hours to fix it and make it more break-out secure
On thursday it was soooo perfect weather, that i decided to
go on some little trips on horse. First i went to Guðnastaðir, to
visit Theresia. And afterwards i went with Guðný, Birgitta
(my personal assistant ) and 5 horses to Gunnarshólmi, to have a
little picknick wow, that was so nice, i enjoyed it a lot
->pics on my fotki page!
On saturday the horses got a day off, 'cause i milked in the
morning an painted our round-pen with wood preservative - uuuuuuh,
disgustingly smelling stuff But it looks very
fancy now Halldór cut 12ha of grass and probably got
traktor-sick after driving in circles for hours
Jæja, and finally i went on the "i svörtum fötum" concert in
Ingolfshvoll. It was the best concert i saw, since i came to
Iceland!!!! They are soooo fucking good!! It was
sooooo good fun! Jónsi is a real
great entertainer! Afterwards we went to a "private
party", kept on drinking german stuff (thumbs up for Berentzen
Apfelkorn ) and enjoyed the guys playing guitar for us
So, i'm gonna take it easy today and try to recover,
to be prepared for the next weekend on Landsmót

Hey
Just
got back from flying, was finishing the last hours in the
Cessna (single-engine). So from now on I’m just going to be
flying the Duchess (multi-engine).
I
took lot of pictures on my new camera that I bought yesterday
(the old one was not handling it anymore: S ). I’ll put some
in when I have more time.
Last
Saturday we had BBQ at the beach, because we where
celebrating Mid-summer-night (we held the party a bit earlier
because some of the people are going home tomorrow ). As
usually the Americana brought LOT of beer and we played
football, and “burning ball” (some Swedish
game).
Well
there’s not much more to tell from San Diego for
now...
So
SeeYa
Over&out,
Lovisa

Jæja, today we went to the 17th of june festivities at
Gunnarshólmi... almost all of us went there on horse, even
Stefan (our new worker) who has been only once (!!!) on a horse
before... but he and the horses did fine, so no one fell off and it
was quite fun to ride there
We enjoyed ourselves with games, food and music and in the end
there was a Tölt-competition for everyone. Even though i was trying
to refuse some particular person just signed me up and i was kind
of forced to start It felt a bit strange to compeed with
almost only professionals and i felt like a little girl hopping
arround on it's pony
But all in all it was a REALLY nice day and i will finish
it with going out again and let some sun shine in my face

Jæja, the weather was with us last saturday and we had a GREAT
GREAT party
I just saw a video of that evening/night, made by some people.
And ...hehehe... even though it does not show me of my best side
(*hm) it was sooooo much fun to watch it!!! I've been loughing and
loughing and loughing some more
We started to grill arround 9pm and the food was really nice: we
had different kinds of meat, lobster and a couple of salads. And of
course a lot to drink
The bowle was finished very soon, but luckily that was not the
only available stuff... So we kept on partying and having fun until
the early morning
Thanks to Frauke and Gummi, for all the effort you put in that
party! Volume 2 next summer
Pictures will be soon on
public.fotki.com/gleymmerei and on this page as
well. Hope you'll enjoy them

Hey
Well the latest news from San Diego…
The good news is that I started my ground training on
the multi-engine this morning. It was fun (jehjeh, I know, I’m so
much of a flight dork ) learning all the system and how
everything works. It’s going to be quite interesting to see how
I’ll do on Wednesday on my first flight in the Duchess. I’m SOO
looking forward.
The bad news is that one of my friends here in the
flight school fell and broke one of the bones in his neck so he has
to have some kind of a helmet around his head for the next 6months.
And if the bone doesn’t heal he has to have an operation and then
he’s not allowed to fly. I feel so sorry for him now because he
loves flying and now he has to wait for 6 months before knowing if
he’s allowed to fly or not. If this would have happened to me
(or any of the other guys) I wouldn’t know what to do. Because for
us flying is like a drug, we needed it and we’re not happy unless
we get to fly.
This will have to do for now, there’s a lot to study for
my multi-engine check ride, and I just have 2-3weeks before my
check ride.
Over&out, Lovisa
